I hope you love your Marketing
When I was CMO I once had a really challenging meal with a marketing consultant who pursues new clients with the tagline "YOUR MARKETING SUCKS." Aside from them ordering oysters and caviar (on our dime), it was the negative pitch that really irked me. Why did we have to "suck" for them to be of value?
Could we have learned new things from someone outside the firm? Sure. Could we have used a coach to get us to the next level? Of course.
But, it wasn't going to be from any company that felt the need to invent problems in order to demonstrate their value.
It's just not true that only firms with marketing problems need marketing consultants like Chief Seconds. In fact, I'd always prefer to work with firms who think "Our marketing rocks" and not "Our marketing sucks." Let's look at misconceptions about why and when you should hire a marketing consultant:
FALSE: You only bring in a consultant when there is a problem.
TRUE: Successful operations are alway a better environment for growth. A healthy relationship between leadership and marketing is the optimal condition for us to work on realizing your goals.
FALSE: Consultants undermine existing operations.
TRUE: Chief Seconds is about making champions. Doubly so for marketers - we are your superfans. While there may be issues that need remediation, the goal is to get to a healthy environment and then to step on the gas.
FALSE: Successful people don't need coaches
TRUE: Tell me the last time you saw the heavyweight champion of the world enter the ring alone. It simply never happens. The best athletes know this truth already - you should always have someone in your corner and that's your Chief Second.
Chief Seconds is here to make champions out of already talented people and high achieving professional services firms. We’re in your corner.
